Advanced Essay Writing Syllabus

Overview: This course is aimed to help students to write English essays about controversial issues and who are ambitious about cultivating their authority as writers.

Reading Assignments: Several essays are selected to read in the first few weeks.
After that, we will also be reading the work of the writers. Mostof the rest of the reading will be determined by the class.

Writing Assignments: Students will be well prepared to lead discussion of the essays they choose, it is required to structure a model essay but give it an entirely new content.
The final essay will be an independent project to be undertaken in consultation with me. The essay is a famously commodious form, personal, academic, humorous, and editorial. And of course they are often mixedwith each other. The assignment descriptions should be provided and the work will be graded on its substance and style. I will comment on drafts of each paper before they turn the final version in, and they will also benefit from the feedback of their classmates.
